Day 225 – Scout’s Honor

d225Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8. Edited in Lightroom.

James Jr. received his “Arrow of Light” award tonight and has officially moved from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. I usually don’t use selective color, but on this one I desaturated everything but the most saturated colors. It left the beads and his blue shirt in color and the liquid in the jar still looked like it was glowing. (The ceremony that Joseph put on was cool and involved making the stuff in the jar glow.)

My boy turned 11 today. He’s growing up so fast. Here are couple of pictures from more than 9 years ago when he was not even two years old. Yep…same boy…same bike.

It’s still possible to see that same little boy in his face…though he doesn’t wear around as much food on his shirt as he used to.

Day 171 – How To Train Your…Children

D171Taken with the Nikon D90 and the Nikon 50mm 1:1.8. Edited in Lightroom, and Silver Efex Pro.

Okay, so the title is misleading. I don’t know a thing about training Children. I used to have 2 theories…now I have 2 children and no theories. It’s hard to even get them to stand still for a photo. Don’t get me wrong; I have GREAT children, the best! So it’s not any failing on their part that I can’t pose them. I just haven’t figured out the secret yet.

On a related note, today we went and saw the new movie, How To Train Your Dragon. What a fun movie!
