It’s a small world. Among my many interests, for many years I have wanted to get my Amateur Radio License. I have been studying for it for a few days and plan to take the Technician Class test on November 3rd.
I just happened to be on the ARRL.org web site and found this article. What is so interesting about this? Well, I have been to that Island. In fact, I was there just a few weeks before this took place.
Comedian Steven Wright said once, “It’s a small world, but I would want to paint it.”
I have dreamed for some time of taking a sushi making class. Today that dream became reality. The 4 hour class was held at Ichiban Sushi in Salt Lake City and taught by renowned sushi chef Peggy Whiting, who has been making as eating sushi nearly every day since the ’70s.
My buddy, Paul, who is also a sushi enthusiast, attended with me. We learned about the best kinds of rice and the secret formula for making perfect sushi rice. We filleted a salmon, and made 9 different rolls each. With the knowledge, sushi and goodies we came away with, it was well worth the $150 I spent.
Peggy Whiting learned to make sushi from the best. She studied the art in Tokyo in 1987 from a registered Japanese National Treasure, master sushi chef Inou of Hama Sushi.
Ichiban Sushi is located at 336 S. 400 East in Salt Lake City.
Speaking of sushi, check out this must have for ever gadget minded sushi geek.

I sent Laine an email this morning, informing him of my conquest. A few minutes later I got a call from him. He was pretty excited about it. He wants it. I don’t blame him. After all, he has been trying to nab it for years. It’s like a hunter seeking an elusive animal, only to have it snatched away by another.
After the 60 day waiting period expires, I guess we will initiate a transfer. Then we will see about setting up some email addresses and perhaps a web site.
Funny thing is: turns out that every year around the middle of September I get the domain hunting bug…

I’ve been trying to find a good domain name for Samantha, but I can’t come to any really decision. Here are some options: smantha, s-mantha, samanthab…Any others?
On Labor Day this year, we took a drive to Snowbasin. While there, we took the chance to ride the Gondola. The Weather was perfect. Another year we want to take mountain bikes up. The ride down would be a riot.
James Jr. has been in school for just a week, and he got his first chance to sample public education cuisine.
Sarah said, “He had school lunch for the first time…fish sticks and fries…but no dessert today…what a rip off…”
